A rising star in the world of the performing arts, soprano Christina Holms, will be appearing in concert at the South Britain Congregational Church, 693 South Britain Road, Route 172, in South Britain, Connecticut on Saturday evening, September 27th at 8:00 pm. This is an intimate and beautiful venue with wonderful acoustics.
Critics have lavished praise on Christina, calling her “a legend in the making,” and “one of the most expressive and inspiring singers in my memory”. Her audiences enthusiastically agree that her memorable performances leave them feeling like they have had “the rare opportunity to be moved by music and to enjoy a feast for our souls.” She has been enthusiastically received by audiences in both the United States and Europe.
Christina has released two albums, Love and Lamentation and My Soul Doth Magnify The Lord, which have been especially popular in Greece, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico and Spain. After a recent concert, she was applauded with a glowing article on the front page of the Connecticut Post which was subsequently published in over a dozen newspapers in Connecticut.
Christina was the opening performer for the legendary singer, Al Martino, and has performed for diverse audiences and for numerous celebrities including First Lady Laura Bush, Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson, Dr. Maya Angelou, Maria Bartiromo as well as Hall of Fame baseball great, Yogi Berra. She was a featured soloist with The Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut, Fanfare Consort’s production of Messiah and was the soprano soloist in Carmina Burana.
Christina has appeared with the great tenor Roberto Iarussi in numerous concerts and in a tribute to Italian Heritage Month by New York’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg at Gracie Mansion. She has also performed in several events at the home of the world renowned Puccini Foundation in New York City.
In South Britain, Christina will be performing beloved operatic arias and fun Broadway selections including some new repertoire, as well as a few of her fan's favorites. She will be joined by a guest artist and by her long-time musical director, the incredibly talented Douglas Dickson of the Yale School of Music, who will be accompanying them on piano.
